How We Worship

In the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, worship is meant to be experienced, not just observed. Rooted in the ancient Byzantine Christian tradition, our prayer draws the whole person—heart, mind, and body—into an encounter with God.
The Divine Liturgy
Our main service is the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Nearly all of it is sung, inviting the entire congregation to participate. Through Scripture, prayer, and Holy Communion, we gather as one community to offer praise and receive Christ.
A Sacred and Symbolic Space
Our church is filled with icons, incense, and chant. Icons are “windows into heaven,” reminding us that we worship alongside the saints. Incense symbolizes our prayers rising to God, and sacred music lifts our hearts toward Him.
Active Participation
You will notice more standing than sitting, frequent signs of the cross, and communal responses. Worship is something we do together. Visitors are always welcome to participate as they feel comfortable or simply observe and pray.
Centered on the Resurrection
Our worship is shaped by the joy and hope of Christ’s Resurrection. Even in moments of repentance, the tone is one of healing, mercy, and new life.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion is offered as the Body and Blood of Christ together, using leavened bread, reflecting the fullness of the risen Lord. All prepared members of the Church, including children, are invited to receive.
Visiting for the First Time
If you are new, it’s okay to feel unsure. There is no expectation to know everything. Simply come, listen, and allow the beauty of the liturgy to speak to you.
You are always welcome to pray with us.
